Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
The last few weeks have been crazy busy but amazing. I have gone to the Pictage Partnercon as well as A Bryan Photo’s Amazing Workshop in Birmingham. I have met so many wonderful people not only photographers but photography vendors. Teresa Goff Photography is making major changes in the way we do business. It is not my goal to shoot and not print or provide products for my clients. I find this happens though due to the busyness of life and other constraints. There is no right or wrong in this business. That is why, at this stage I will be making the changes to steer my busyness-business in a direction that will allow me to attract clients that most value what I have to offer.
Please take the time to watch this video. Dope, Soap and Hope I attended one of Zack’s workshops last year here in Baton Rouge. It changed the way that I use lighting. He is an amazing photographer and really gets to the HEART of things. So I’ve watched this video a number of times now. Jonathan Canlas shared it with us last week and it’s so moving. We are all in this life together, no matter where you are, what you do for a living or even the mistakes that we make. I think our life should be based on what we have to offer, and not how much money we make or how clean our lives have been.
I tend to get overly personal on my feelings here and I’ve struggled with how to present myself to attract clients. Should I be professional or show myself with all my flaws? It nags at me quite a bit. At Partnercon, I felt so out of place. Hundreds of photographers there. Rockstar photographers… I’m talking the BEST of the best… But then a few things happened. I attended quite a few presentations but Amber Holritz really made an impression. She is a lifestyle photographer based in Tennessee. What she gives to her clients is so completely what I think is most important. REAL memories. Hence the term “lifestyle”.. Then, Joe Buissink’s presentation was so touching. But he is such an honest and sweet person. I’m telling you… he is BIGTIME but always made time to talk to me and answer a question or two or three. And last but not least, all the amazing photographer’s there that really want to be successful at what they do. But most important, are the ones that bring heart to the table every day. I have some new inspiration Couture Book and the creator Phyllis Lane. Her photography is amazing and the Couture Book is the perfect compliment to her photography.
So then, last week an opportunity presented itself to me. A Bryan Photo’s workshop. Through a very generous & unexpected opportunity, I attended the two-day workshop. We started early and finished late and it was jam packed with so much learning and inspiration. It’s everything a workshop should be. Because of who Bryan is as a person and his wife Ashley/studio manager and their team, I was relaxed and felt very welcomed and a part of something much larger than photography. Through this, I met Kathryn of Snippet & Ink, Jonathan Canlas, Brian of Cypress Albums; Adam of ShootQ and last but not least Bill Pyne of Richard Photo Lab. I have more details from the events to share. I can’t wait for you to see the amazing shoot we did with A Bryan Photo.
I’m soo excited to have been a part of such a wonderful experience. So many new things to incorporate and create a business that not only is an avenue for my art, but also a product that my client’s will cherish for so many years to come!
So I’m hoping that this Thanksgiving you had so many blessings to be thankful for. I know we had one of the best Thanksgivings EVER here in our home. I’ll post pics of our goodies soon.
Take care and have blessed weekend….. t.
