Breathe….

So I am over the sickness that visited last week and I can take a break in between all the Christmas orders and just breathe..

This has been a particularly stressful season for some reason, and I know that I need to slow down and just breathe.   I am sure lots are feeling the pressure of the season but lets take time and remember, this is about a birth, a new life and a fresh start.  I’m sooo excited about 2010 and the changes that I will be making in our business.

So, lets share some fun stuff!  I have lots of blogs that I follow for different reasons.    This blog is one that well, lets all face it.  We all dream of being Martha Stewart and everything being absolutely perfect.  I love this blog as it captures so many great ideas that June Cleaver would be proud of.  I would recommend you add this to your Google Reader so that you know when updates are available.  Always such wonderful ideas for any holiday.

If you have any special recipe and would like to share, please do so here.  Send it via an email or just a comment…  we would all love to try new yums and possibly add it to our family tradition.

Dope, Soap and Hope & A Bryan Photo Workshop

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

The last few weeks have been crazy busy but amazing.  I have gone to the Pictage Partnercon as well as A Bryan Photo’s Amazing Workshop in Birmingham.  I have met so many wonderful people not only photographers but photography vendors.  Teresa Goff Photography is making major changes in the way we do business.  It is not my goal to shoot and not print or provide products for my clients.  I find this happens though due to the busyness of life and other constraints.  There is no right or wrong in this business.  That is why, at this stage I will be making the changes to steer my busyness-business in a direction that will allow me to attract clients that most value what I have to offer.

Please take the time to watch this video. Dope, Soap and Hope I attended one of Zack’s workshops last year here in Baton Rouge.  It changed the way that I use lighting.  He is an amazing photographer and really gets to the HEART of things.  So I’ve watched this video a number of times now.  Jonathan Canlas shared it with us last week and it’s so moving.  We are all in this life together, no matter where you are, what you do for a living or even the mistakes that we make.   I think our life should be based on what we have to offer, and not how much money we make or how clean our lives have been.

I tend to get overly personal on my feelings here and I’ve struggled with how to present myself to attract clients.  Should I be professional or show myself with all my flaws?  It nags at me quite a bit.  At Partnercon, I felt so out of place.  Hundreds of photographers there.  Rockstar photographers…   I’m talking the BEST of the best…  But then a few things happened.  I attended quite a few presentations but Amber Holritz really made an impression.  She is a lifestyle photographer based in Tennessee.  What she gives to her clients is so completely what I think is most important.  REAL memories.  Hence the term “lifestyle”..   Then, Joe Buissink’s presentation was so touching.  But he is such an honest and sweet person.  I’m telling you…  he is BIGTIME but always made time to talk to me and answer a question or two or three.  And last but not least, all the amazing photographer’s there that really want to be successful at what they do.  But most important, are the ones that bring heart to the table every day.  I have some new inspiration Couture Book and the creator Phyllis Lane.  Her photography is amazing and the Couture Book is the perfect compliment to her photography.

So then, last week an opportunity presented itself to me.  A Bryan Photo’s workshop.    Through a very generous & unexpected opportunity, I attended the two-day workshop.  We started early and finished late and it was jam packed with so much learning and inspiration.  It’s everything a workshop should be.  Because of who Bryan is as a person and his wife Ashley/studio manager and their team, I was relaxed and felt very welcomed and a part of something much larger than photography.   Through this, I met Kathryn of Snippet & Ink, Jonathan Canlas, Brian of  Cypress Albums; Adam of ShootQ and last but not least Bill Pyne of Richard Photo Lab.   I have more details from the events to share.  I can’t wait for you to see the amazing shoot we did with A Bryan Photo.

I’m soo excited to have been a part of such a wonderful experience.  So many new things to incorporate and create a business that not only is an avenue for my art, but also a product that my client’s will cherish for so many years to come!

So I’m hoping that this Thanksgiving you had so many blessings to be thankful for.  I know we had one of the best Thanksgivings EVER here in our home.  I’ll post pics of our goodies soon.

Take care and have blessed weekend…..  t.

Fun Family = Fun Fotography

I always try to make things fun, but you know, you run out of original ideas!  When planning this, Kayce suggested that the boys bring their radio control cars.  These play a big part of Dad & Son’s fun together and it’s special.  I LOVE IT!

blog4Dad was the most patient Dad and so sweet.   Here, they are changing the tires..  They actually ran these cool cars and I was so surprised at how fast they are.  (MANY CAR SHOTS TO COME)  I shot tons of film at this session, so we’ll have another post in a week after the processing. I wanted to share these digital for the excitement of seeing the session right away.

What a great memory of such a cool Mom.  How priceless is this shot of mom.  I know from my own experience, we do allot of caretaking, coaching and commanding.   It’s great to have this for when the little guys are big.

blog21Kayce, Jaime & Dailen, I love spending time with such a cool and fun family.  What a sweetheart you all are.  I hope to capture many more moments for you.

November 8, 2009 - 11:09 pm Kayce Rodrigue - Teresa, Thank you so much!!!!! These are so beautiful! I can't wait to see all of them! You are such an amazing photographer! We have to do this once a year for sure! Thank you again! You are truly talented in many ways! We love you so much! Thank you, The Rodrigues

Always a favorite…

From the first time that I shot this little guy, he became a favorite.  He is such a cutie as you can see, but he is also such a sweetie.  I love that his parents like to do the session at their home.  I think for many years to come, we all want to remember our lives and the things that were a part of them.   You never realize how beautiful your life can be just as it is!

Yay for Saturday!

I am officially back from the Pictage Partnercon.  Body is back; mind and spirit will try to hold on to those moments and all the information that I have experienced.  I am purposefully not saying “learned” because I felt so much while there.  Partnercon is a photography conference that they bring all sorts of wonderful photographers from all over to speak.  So many many to pick from. Ultimately, I went to Jeff & Erin Youngren, Amber Holritz, Melissa Jill, Joe Buissink and then to Jenn Lindberg.  I could go on and on about how inspirational they all were.  If you know me even a little, you know that my philosophy on photography involves lots of emotion and feelings.  I find over the past year, I went out with the intention of capturing what looks good.  I have also experienced what I will call a dip and seriously considered not ever doing this again professionally.  I love my clients, I love photography but I do not love the business of photography.  But in order to do this, it has to be a business and it has to be profitable enough that I have the time to do it.  Well, It can and will happen. I’m reenergized and  ready to make some changes.

Today, I have a session with a family.  Today, I am going out with the intention that feelings, fun and emotional can be most beautiful.  The weather is perfect, life is beautiful, and i live in sunny LA.  It doesn’t get any better than this.

enjoy your family and friends today and never forget to look for the beauty in everything!

Teresa

Still lots to say, please check back.  I’ll fill you in on a new product that I LOVE and will definitely be offering and possibly including for all my clients.

Interview, Inside Analog Photo Radio

I have been a big fan of this podcast for some time and was recently honored with the request to be interviewed about my business and the integration of film into my photography.   After the interview, I had a few sessions that I shot digital and I remembered why, FILM is beautiful!  It’s easy to use, and makes the post processing an ease!  I just can’t tell you how much I love it.   Scott Sheppard is wonderful to talk to and really knows his stuff.  Whether you are a professional photographer or just an enthusiast, I think film should find a place in your work.  Take a listen and if it interests you, make sure to listen to his other interviews.  You’ll be inspired all over again!   Listen Here!

November 2, 2009 - 7:51 pm Jaclyn Michele - Just listened to this (and looked you up!) and so much of what you said rang true with where I am at right now. I've been lusting after the look of film and attempting to duplicate it in digital, which as you know is pretty much impossible! So I just took the plunge and bought a film camera and am going to be slowly integrating film into my work. Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and let you know I listened and enjoyed your interview!

fall is in the air….

and I’m loving it!  I am planning a Halloween party, stop in and have some tasty eats, watch the LSU game and enjoy the trick or treaters.  We always have 100s!  I think this year, I will take pics of the best costumes and post them for all to see.  Also, I make a mean potato soup and chili for the evening.  (Jim…  sorry hon, we might need more food than usual, I keep inviting more and more people)  Love love this time of year!  Another favorite is Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte.  I hear that CCs has a great one too so I might switch for the sake of supporting a local business (credit this idea to Misty).   We had a great weekend here between soccer, a session with the most beautiful baby and also winterizing and decorating the house and yard.  I have found this cake that I have to make.  It’s the coolest looking cake and perfect for Halloween.  I’ll post it and the recipe with credits in a day or so.  For now, enjoy the sweetness that I enjoyed yesterday..

thg_9728So, last thing.  This isn’t even the best one of the session…  We had some real smiles, some rolls and beautiful light  OH and NO photoshopping except a little sharpening and that is it.  Vignettes, all natural!  Isn’t she beautiful?

October 23, 2009 - 9:01 pm Janet - So, so sweet!

Model, Seniors and Urban fun

I’ve been working hard behind the scenes to update all of our marketing and galleries.  I’ve also had the pleasure to work with a beautiful young lady that is modeling and she is absolutely perfect to work with.  I LOVE all of the images we got on Sunday….  Urban really is the way to go for fun and different shots.  Downtown Baton Rouge has some of the most unique backgrounds and beautiful buildings.  Just a teaser for more to come..  Have a great weekend!
